System Glossary

Channel: the location(s) where content will be displayed

Template: re-useable HTML5 layout that standardize canvas size and zones placement including image, video, mixed (image or video), text, and data zones.

Users can create an unlimited number of unique Instances using templates.

Instance: a filled out copy of a Template (where a template is the framework, an instance is the completed template).

Active Instance: an Instance that is has been scheduled for playout

Smart Canvas: Template interface that enables User’s to edit and preview Instances

Zone: an area of a Template on the Smart Canvas that enables User’s to add, edit or delete an Instance’s content. Zone rules control where and how content displays and behaves, as well as assuring that only valid assets are used

Program Block: a grouping of instances and assets that are ordered and scheduled for play out. Think of it as a playlist.

Active Program Block: a Program Block that has been scheduled for playout

Asset: images and videos contributed by the User

Collection: group of images and/or videos that can be added to Program Blocks. Think of them as re-usable mini program blocks.

Work Groups: allows your organization to control what your Users can access and view

Users: an individual who has access to the ElationLogic platform

Admin Role: a User with privileges to create/deactivate user accounts, and change a user’s password

Snapshots: snapshot of what’s playing on a channel/display at a specific point in time

Player: piece of hardware that stores the asset (images, videos) and the playlist(s) that are scheduled to be displayed. 

Record ID: a unique numeric identifier for assets, instances, templates, and program blocks.
